COVID update 13-Feb-2022 - COVID-19 - Our News - Te Awamutu College

Good afternoon Te Awamutu College community

We have received numerous queries over the weekend regarding the communication that was sent on Friday regarding a confirmed positive COVID-19 case.

The Ministry of Education has worked closely with the Ministry of Health to develop guidelines and protocols to ensure that schools can remain open in the CPF Red Setting. Attached is an explanation of what we are doing at Te Awamutu College to ensure the safety of your tamariki. It is important for schools to remain open for the benefit of students’ learning, as well as their social, emotional and mental well-being.

Please be assured that close contacts of the positive case have been identified, families have been contacted and provided with the relevant public health advice (for the individual and the family). If you have not been contacted directly by Te Awamutu College about this, then your child is NOT a close contact and no further action is required by your child or your family.

Normal advice remains, for all of us, we should watch for symptoms and stay off school if unwell. If symptoms develop, get tested immediately and follow instructions from Healthline and/ or medical professionals.

The MOE have been clear with expectations of schools; students are expected to be at school unless they are unwell, are required to self-isolate, or have a pre-existing medical condition which contributes to exceptional vulnerability.

Te Awamutu College is open for instruction.
